Every year, during ESCAIDE, EAN in collaboration with ECDC organizes a photo contest to depict moments of the life of epidemiologists, microbiologists and public health experts that felt very special to them.

During ESCAIDE 2018 in Malta, Raquel Medialdea, one of EAN Photo Contest winners and Cohort 2018 fellow came to us with the idea to use the photos to raise awareness about the realities in the field and to promote the EAN Photo Contest during ESCAIDE so that more people will submit their photos!

The plan was to display all the submitted photos, with the consent of the photographers, in various Public Health Institutes around Europe in the form of a travelling exhibition. Hence the name “Travelling Field Epi and Public Health Microbiology Photo Exhibition”.

The idea became a reality: EAN and current EPIET & EUPHEM fellows are proud to announce that the debut of the Travelling Photo Exhibition was in Malta where the photos were displayed at Mater Dei Hospital from the 5th of February until the 1st of March with the help of the current fellow Raquel Medialdea.

Since then, the photo exhibition travelled from Malta to the Netherlands and is currently in Ireland at the Health Service Executive-Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HSE-HPSC) in Dublin.

Thanks to the fellows for proposing and co-organising this Photo Exhibition and for supporting EAN in promoting fellows' and alumni work. Many thanks also to all the photographers!
